Dedicated to the memory of Matthew J. Simeone Jr.

This site is a tribute to Matthew J. Simeone Jr.

Matt was born in Rome, Italy and raised by Theresa and Matthew Sr. in Massapequa, NY. He loved music, played guitar, harmonica, and the piano and was a writer and producer of hundreds of songs. He was kind, intelligent, and a hilarious person. He served in the NCPD for 24 out of his 51 years. As the community affairs commanding officer, Simeone served as the commissioner's liaison to ethnic and religious groups throughout the county, and acted as the coordinator for the county's task force against gangs.

Upon graduating from the police academy, where he earned the General Excellence Award for being the top all-around recruit, Simeone was assigned to the Fourth Precinct, where he earned numerous awards.

After a six-year assignment at the Police Academy, he became the New Cassel Community Policing Detail supervisor. He led an initiative that resulted in community involvement and dramatic reductions in crime, according to the police department.

After a two-year assignment as an assistant to the commissioner, Simeone developed the Security / Police Information Network, which seeks to increase public safety through the sharing of important and timely information.

Matthew was a graduate of the FBI National Academy and had a master's degree in homeland security from the Naval Postgraduate School's Center for Homeland Defense and Security.

He was a volunteer with the American Cancer Society, where he served on the Nassau Regional Advisory Board.

Matt is much loved and will always be remembered. This year marks 10 years since he had passed away from this cancer on March 27, 2009. Pancreatic cancer has a five-year survival rate of 7.2%. 10 years later there is still no cure. Please donate to help others with this horrible disease, which shouldn't have to be a death sentence.
